FG warns ministries, agencies not to reject corps members

THE acting president, Professor Yemi Osinbajo, has implored government ministries and agencies to stop rejecting corps members posted to serve in their organisations

Representing Kano State governor, Dr Abubakar Umar Ganduje, at the swearing-in ceremony of 2017 Batch “A’ Stream 1 corps members in Karaye, the deputy governor, Professor Abubakar Hafix, while reading Professor Osinbajo’s goodwill message, corps members to regard whichever community they are posted to serve as their home.

“You have all left your homes to leave in another part of the country, where you may not have friends or family. However, I would want you to know that wherever you are in the country, you have friends and family and you are always at home, particularly in Kano.”

“We must all strive to fight the painful erosion of our social values, as a result of greed and dishonesty. If change begins with each of you, nothing can impede the progress of this nation,” he said.

Earlier, Kano State (NYSC) coordinator, Mr Ladan Baba, noted that a total of 2,382 corps members were registered, comprising 1,070 males and 1312 females.

He promised that the new set of corps members would be adequately sensitised on the various aspects of sustainable development goals and aggressive growing of nursery seedlings to free planting stage, as well as NYSC health imitative for rural dwellers, which was in line with Kano State policy.

He noted also that female corps members were given new mattresses, courtesy of the state government, and that there had been prompt payment of local allowances of corps members serving with state establishments.

Baba, however, appealed to the state government to provide NYSC with a Toyota Coaster bus and necessary logistics for the medical, gender, charity and other community development service groups to conveniently key-in and carry out lofty programmes in the state.
