THE Federal Government, on Tuesday, appealed to a Trade Mission from the United Kingdom to invest in the commercialization of Nigerian research findings and Innovations.
Minister of Science and Technology, Dr Ogbonnaya Onu made the call when a Trade Delegation from UK paid him a courtesy visit in Abuja.
He disclosed that some of the research findings would be of mutual benefits to both parties in terms of profit-yielding investment and employment generation for Nigeria.
Dr Onu said that Nigeria is committed to add value to her natural resources and called on the UK trade delegation to disregard negative reports about Nigeria, urging them to sign Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on Nigerians research findings.
The minister further stated that the ministry was making progress as leading companies were now collaborating with the ministry to commercialize her research findings
He noted that some of the research findings could be marketed all over the world, adding that Nigeria cherished her long standing relationship with the United Kingdom.
Dr Onu cited Culture and Tourism as one area Nigeria would try to lead the world.
Earlier, the leader of the delegation, Helen Grant MP, said that the visit was to improve bilateral relations between the two countries and said she was impressed with Nigeria’s position as top investment destination.
She further urged the government to make the country more attractive to Foreign Investors.
The member of British Parliament disclosed that UK would be leaving European Union (EU) in 18 months from now, hence would like to deepen its existing relationships with Nigeria.
