FG to shut Akure airport to sabotage our rally ―PDP

THE Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Wednesday alerted that the federal government plans to shut Akure Airport on Thursday to prevent party members from arriving from different parts of the country to participate in its grand rally for Ekiti State gubernatorial election.

It alleged that the government will do so under the guise of carrying out repairs but it is intended to sabotage the rally in the state capital.

National Publicity Secretary of the main opposition party, Kola Ologbodiyan, who disclosed these, told a news conference in Abuja that Ondo State government also intends to mobilize earth moving equipment to block a section of the road leading to Akure to prevent movement of party members.

He said the purpose of the press conference was to draw the attention of the public to the All Progressive Congress (APC)-led government’s shenanigans.

He said the action will be callous with serious ramifications for democracy in the country.

He stated that despite APC’s shenanigans, the PDP is poised to repeat its performance against the APC gubernatorial candidate, Kayode Fayemi, by trouncing him in all local government areas of the state.

According to him, there is a consensus among the people in the state to ensure that the candidate of the party, Prof. Kolapo Olusola Eleka gets all the 16 local governments in the election.

“There is a consensus to repeat the 2014 feat of 16 to 0. Eleka will defeat Fayemi 16 to 0,” Ologbodiyan boasted.

He warned against any attempt to rig the July 15 Ekiti gubernatorial election as according to him, the consequences of rigging will be better imagined.

He said: “Nobody should attempt to rig Ekiti election. The consequences will be better imagined. Nigerians are aware of what happened in Edo State and they don’t want a repeat of that.”
