FG targets $200m investment from UK  IT firm

THE Minister of Communications, Barrister Adebayo Shittu, has disclosed plans to attract over $200 million investment from foreign investors through linkage with Decode-Secure Technologies Limited of United Kingdom.

He has also said that the Federal Government has opened its doors to any willing investor in the actualisation of the proposed  ICT University of Nigeria, to be located in Abuja.

He made the disclosure in his office during a meeting with Decode-Secure Technologies Limited, United Kingdom (UK), adding that whatsoever proposal submitted from a willing investor must be subjected to critical analysis by both the stakeholders and professionals before any Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) could be entered into.

Shittu, who commended the Decode-Secure Technologies management for a good presentation, however, requested them to prepare a detailed proposal, stating specific areas of interests in the ICT Industry.

The Company Secretary and leader of the delegation, Mr. Neill Fraser said it was in recognition of the importance of Information Technology  in modern economy and the fact that Nigeria must take its rightful  place in IT world that informed the company to visit Nigeria- to find possible areas of partnership with Nigeria.

Fraser, who stood in for the Nigerian born founder and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Decode-Secure Technologies Mr. Olayinka Olalekan said their presentation was based on infrastructure planning named ATOKA, a unique property Identification System, will locate and categorise ‘State of the Art’  technology that is accurate in predictions.

He also said if the ATOKA was adopted in Nigeria, it would be of zero cost to Nigeria as a Government and would attract $200 million investment from foreign investors.
