FG restructuring MDAs for revenue generation —HoS 

The Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Mrs. Winifred Oyo-Ita, has disclosed that the ongoing reforms in the civil service would ensure that ministries, departments and agencies (MDAs) are positioned to generate revenue.

She said this while inaugurating a 250-room hostel alongside other projects at the Public Service Institute of Nigeria (PSIN), Abuja, adding that this has become imperative in view of the current funding challenge.

She also noted that it was within the mandate of the MDAs to generate revenue for the government.

Nigerian Tribune gathered that the 250-bedroom hostel and other projects at the institute were abandoned for many years as a result of funding challenge.

Oyo-Ita, who was concerned by the development on her assumption of office, made effort to mobilise resources for the completion of the projects.

She said that the idea of partnering with the private sector in utilising the infrastructure provided at the institute was conceived in line with the desire to make MDAs self-reliant, especially when considering the current critical funding challenge.

The Head of Service also inaugurated a staff clinic, a 27-bedroom guest house and an Information Communication Technology centre within the premises of the institute.

She promised more entrepreneurial and commercial innovations that would help government boost its revenue, saying “what we have achieved in the partnership with the public sector is in two folds.

“We are developing human capacity for the service and also encouraging commercial orientation, even entrepreneural development of government MDAs in line with our mandate to generate revenue.

“Much had been expected from the PSIN over the years as a place designed for the training of middle level civil and public servants.

“The delay in the projects was because government was financial constraits. And because we cannot rely on government for all funds, we examined the public private partnership,” she said.
