FG restates commitment to completion of Ibadan-Ife-Ilesa road rehabilitation

In an effort to ease the movement of people and commercial activities in Ibadan and Osun State respectively, the federal government has restated its commitment to the rehabilitation of the ongoing Ibadan/Ife/Ilesa road.

The project, which was awarded in the year 2020 by the federal government is a 108 kilometres road project and is expected to be completed within 36 months.

Speaking during the inspection of the ongoing road project, Southwest zonal Director of works, Federal Ministry of Works and Housing, Adedamola Kuti explained that the inspection was aimed at checking the progress of the project.

He noted that the project when completed, will ease the movement of people and also reduce gridlock on the road.

While he hinted that the project is a very strategic road in the southwest region, he added that the road will help in improving commerce in the region and as well as reduce damage to vehicles caused by bad roads.

He, therefore, advised road users to maintain the construction speed limits on the road and also appealed to them to endure discomfort which might be experienced as the project progresses.

Also speaking, the Contracts manager, Kopek construction Limited, Pascal Harfouch stated that the scope of the project is to improvise the existing surface of the road for the durability of the road

Also inspected is the Oyo/Ogbomoso road, a 52-kilometre road that links Ilorin and other northern parts of Nigeria

Speaking during the inspection exercise, the contract Manager of Reynolds Construction Company (RCC), Israel Jacob explained that the project commenced at the 43 kilometres portion of the road.

While he further stated that the project which is already in its 50 per cent of completion, he noted that it will be concluded before the end of 2023.
