FG pledges more infrastructural development in North-East

THE Federal Government has pledged to ensure more infrastructural development in the north-eastern part of the country during the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari.

Minister of State for Works and Housing,  Abubakar Aliyu, gave the assurance when he was hosted by the Yobe State government alongside the Senate President, Senator Ahmed Lawan.

He spoke against the backdrop of devastation of the region by the activities of insurgents and the ongoing efforts of the Federal Government to restore peace and stability in the area.

Aliyu noted that the current administration had achieved a lot in terms of infrastructural development such as roads, in various parts of the country.

He pointed out that the North-East and Yobe State in particular had benefited tremendously from many of such road projects.

The minister said some of the ongoing and completed road projects in Yobe State and the North-East include Azare- Damburu road and Nguru-Gashua-Maimari road.

He also listed the establishment of the North East Development Commission as a great stride by the Buhari administration to take care of the reconstruction, rehabilitation and rebuilding of the entire devastated North-East region.

Earlier, Yobe State governor, Mai Malah Buni, said that the government and people of the state decided to honour their illustrious sons because of their various achievements at the state and national levels.

He described them as worthy ambassadors of the state.
