The Federal Government has partnered with the Vocation Realise on Agricultural Empowerment Foundation (VRAEF), to empower youths in the country through agriculture.
The partnership, according to VRAEF Project Director, Ms Joyce Iroka, is to eradicate poverty, create jobs and ensure food security.
She said the Minister of Agriculture and Rural development, Chief Audu Ogbeh and the Minister of Information Lai Mohammed, have both endorsed the Project which is set to employ thousands of young Nigerians.
Ms. Iroka stated that the project is in line with the Federal Government’s quest to diversify the economy, adding that VRAEF will offer agricultural training and proper dissemination of research outcomes to farmers.
Also, in partnership with VRAEF the Ogun State Government has allocated land at Abeokuta North Local Government Area of the states for the foundation Project to take-off in the state.
The project will essentially focus on mix-farming, post-harvest activities including the provision of storage structures and provision of laboratories services.
The Project Director explained that the foundation was designed by a catholic Jesuit Priest an American, Rev Fr Francis CUSIMANO SJ and the Vatican, seeing the importance and the number of lives the foundation will affect positively, plans to endorse it as their second foundation.
