FG generates N2.4bn from marriage in 2024

The Federal Government has revealed that it generated approximately N2.4 billion in 2024 from marriage contracts processed through its registry at the Ministry of Interior.

Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, disclosed this on Tuesday during a media briefing in Abuja. He also announced that the ministry recorded over N3.2 billion in revenue from expatriate quota applications, marking a 150% increase in overall revenue.

In addition to revenue generation, the minister stated that 828 foreigners were repatriated from Nigeria in 2024. While he did not specify their offences, he confirmed that the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) carried out the deportations.
