FG approves World Bank water project for Kogi West

Published by

THE Federal government has approved  a World Bank water project across Kabba-Bunu and Ijumu local government areas and their environments in Kogi West Senatorial district of Kogi State.

The member representing Kabba-Bunu/Ijumu federal constituency of Kogi state in the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Yusuff, said this at the inauguration of the construction/rehabilitation of five kilometres Kabba-Ole-Ofin feeder road in Kogi West Senatorial District of the state.

According to him, the water project to be financed by the world bank project was initiated by him and other people from Kogi West,  adding that the project would provide water to Kabba, Okoro, Otuole, Oke-Bukun, Iyara and other communities in the federal constituency.

The lawmaker lauded the people for giving him the privilege to be the first House of Representatives member to be returned in the constituency.

“There is a saying that to whom much is given much is expected. I cannot give money to everybody even if CBN is given to me I cannot get enough money to give to everybody but what will be enduring are projects like this.

“So, my quest and desire to leave a mark that generations unborn will see as a roadmap as sign and a shoe they will desire to step in, God opened my eyes on how to fix this road.

“As I stand today Kabba-Okene road is being rehabilitated, Kabba-Omi which is going to be in two phases (Kabba to after Secretariat in Iyara, while 2017 budget will take care of Kabba to Iyamoye) the first leg from Kabba has started. He said the one being flagged off is Kabba-Olle- Iluke.

“However the first phase is five Kilometers, we trust God that with the 2017 we will push it to 10Km, I am sure that then, we would have gone 80 per cent completion.”

The lawmaker explained that he had ensured that the mandate given to him by the people was being utilised to draw development to the area.

He said, “Without the platform of the mandate you have given me no matter how articulate or intelligent I am, nobody would have listened to me so the commendation goes to you first, because I was not the most intelligent or educated, I wasn’t the richest or the most connected but it pleased God to put it in your heart to elect me, thank you,” he concluded.
