FG approves N4bn take-off grant for Federal Polytechnics in Oyo, Plateau

The Federal Government has approved the sum of N4 billion take-off grant for the establishment of two Federal Polytechnics in Oyo State and Plateau States respectively.

According to the two separate approval letters issued and signed by the Permanent Secretary of Federal Ministry of Education, Arc. Sonny Echono on behalf of the Minister of Education, the sum of N2 billion was approved for the proposed Federal Polytechnic, Ayede, Ogo-Oluwa Local Government Area, Oyo State.

The approval was conveyed via a letter with Ref. No: DHE/POLY.49/C.1/11/351, issued by the Permanent Secretary of Federal Ministry of Education, Arc. Sonny Echono on behalf of the Minister, dated: January 29, 2021, and addressed to Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State.

It read: “I wish to inform your Excellency that, President Muhammadu Buhari, GCFR, President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, has approved the establishment of Federal Polytechnic in Ayede, Ogo-Oluwa Local Government Area, Oyo State.

“Mr President also approved a take-off grant of N2 billion for the new Polytechnic from the funding resources of Tetfund for the provision of core facilities for immediate take-off. This has been duly conveyed to Tetfund for implementation.

“In view of the above, a Technical Team from the Federal Ministry of Education and the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) will soon visit your State to identify the site in Ayede, Ogo-Oluwa L.G.A and access its readiness for commencement of academic activities in October 2021.”

In the same vein, President Buhari approved the sum of N2 billion take-off grant for the establishment of a Federal Polytechnic in Shendam, Plateau State.

The letter read: “President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the establishment of Federal Polytechnic, Shendam, Plateau State, with an approval of N2 billion from the funding resources of TETFund for the immediate take-off, the Ministry of Education confirmed in a letter to Governor Simon Lalong of Plateau State.”
