The lounge section of the Mauve 21 Event Centre in Ring Road, Ibadan, was a beehive  of activities last Sunday, when the cream of the entertainment industry besieged the  capital city for the maiden edition of Odua Music and Movie Award (OMAMA) to add  glamour to the event.

From musicians to actors and those behind the scene of movie productions, it was a  day that was set aside to honour those who had contributed in no little means to  the development of the Yoruba culture through music, videos and other areas of  entertainment.

Anchored by popular Ibadan-based comedian, Remote, the event, which was organised by Ademola Moreklue of Maya Awards, put forward a spectacle of the culture and tradition  to the amusement of the audience, who seemed to be enjoying every moment of their  stay while they listened to the jokes of Remote.

There were many highpoints at the event, but the moment people had been waiting  for would soon came when Juju singer, Femi Solar, whose profile has continued to  rise to the envy of his colleagues, emerged the best Juju Artiste of the Year even as  he revealed that he never saw it coming.

Solar, who is described by his fans as a protege of  Yinka Ayefele was lost of words  as he stepped forward to receive his award. The Adegbodu twins also claimed the Best  Gospel Artiste of the Year award, even as Gospel Artiste of the Year (Female) award  was given to Bunmi Akinaanu (Omije Ojumi).

Popular comic actor, Wale Akorede, otherwise known as Okunnu, was rewarded for his  hard work and consistency, as he went home with the Best Comic Actor of the Year  award just as Femi Adebayo won Best Actor of the Year. Jaiye Kuti emerged the Best  Actress of the Year. Nkechi Sunday won Best Actor in a TV series.
