All roads lead to Planet Nollywood in Camberwell Green, London on Friday, February 24, for the premiere of the-much-talked-about movie – Omiran, (Giant), – produced by wave-making actress, Tolulope Oke.
Ace actor, Femi Adebayo stars alongside Oke in the movie. Oke revealed in an interview that Adebayo would join her in receiving guests at the premiere expected to have in attendance notable personalities in the UK social circuit.
Omiran, which also parades stars including Funsho Adeolu, Muyideen Oladapo, Rose Odika, among others, is the fourth from the stable of Edge 17 Production owned by Oke.
A versatile actress, Oke, over time, has endeared herself to movie fans with the feats recorded by her previous movies such as Bi Ala and Adun-both also premiered in London.
According to her, the success of the premiere of her previous movies in London in 2012 and 2014 consecutively, informed her decision to also premiere Omiran in London, albeit on a ‘larger scale.’
“The forthcoming premiere has a lot of pleasant surprises for the guests, and apart from being wowed by the movie, they would enjoy a lot of side attractions which would indelibly engrave in their minds,” Oke said.
Omiran is a sequel to Oke’s Home Sick, which was recorded in London in 2015. Directed by Oladapo, it was shot on locations in Ibadan. The movie runs for almost one and half hours and explores the theme of love and integrity.
A sneak preview reveals Raphael Olakunle-Collins (Adebayo) as an under-world king pin dealing in illicit drugs. His seemingly-cool mien drastically changes when his love relationship with Ayinke (Oke) brings to fore his hidden secrets. The center no longer holds for Raphael as he tries desperately to cover his tracks. The plot takes a twist as the audience is held spellbound as events unfold.
Since debuting in 2006, Oke, who has a degree in sociology and a diploma in dramatic arts to her name, has featured in myriad movies including Dazzling Mirage by veteran movie director, Tunde Kelani; Eje, The Score, Kutu Kutu, Simisola, Awure Eni, Kosofe-the list is endless. She also played the star role in Zone 222, an M-Net TV series.
She informed that she produced Omiran as an eye-opener to people involved in illicit endeavors and also to give moral lessons to the public.
“I produced Omiran with a view to availing the public the opportunity to learn from a true life experience which gave me food for thought. The movie is intriguing as the audience would find the characters, most especially, Raphael and Ayinke fascinating and learn a lot from their experiences,” she said.
According to her, the premiere is being organized with the support of Naija FM Radio Station and Godfather Promotion, London.
