FEEDBACK: Shehu Sani, Fani-Kayode, Omokri, Segalink, others react to RCCG, Pastor Adeboye’s walk over insecurity in Nigeria

Nigerians have reacted to the peaceful protest staged by Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), otherwise tagged a “Prayer Walk” led by the general overseer of the church, Pastor E.A Adeboye, over the state of insecurity in Nigeria.

Recall that Tribune Online had earlier reported that Adeboye led the members of the church on a prayer walk in accordance with the directive of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN).

This has generated a lot of reactions among a cross-section of Nigerians.

Senator Shehu Sani, a former federal lawmaker commended Adeboye for disembarking from the fence of caution, moderation and neutrality and leading a match against insecurity.

Femi Fani-Kayode, a former minister of aviation on his Twitter page commended Adeboye and RCCG for conducting a march against insecurity and asked if they are willing to accept they made a mistake by supporting Buhari.

“Pastor Enoch Adeboye and RCCG are conducting a protest march against the killings in the land.

“I commend them & hope that they will find the courage to accept that they made a mistake by supporting Buhari in the first place.

“Will RCCG Pastor Yemi Osinbajo will join in the march? ”

Reno Omokri, a former aide to ex-President Goodluck Jonathan and a FreeLeahSharibu activist on the microblogging platform, Twitter, commended the general overseer of RCCG, Pastor Adeboye, for engaging in such walk against insecurity.

However, he said the protest would have been better if Adeboye asked President Muhammadu Buhari and Vice President Yemi Osinbajo to resign.

Omokri tweeted: “I applaud GO Adeboye.

“However, I wish he followed Abaribe’s patriotic example and asked General @MBuhari and @ProfOsinbajo to perform or resign.

“You cannot protest the consequences and tolerate the cause. The cause is the incompetence of this govt

Segun Awosanya a Nigerian realtor and Nigerian Human rights activist on his Twitter page @segalink said: “We have said many times that rather than scorch the ground between us, we must find common ground and align our voices in unity until it becomes too loud to ignore.

“Our institutions are gasping for breath & the rulership is listless and moribund.

Omoyele Sowore, the 2019 presidential candidate of African Action Congress (AAC) and convener of #RevolutionNow, commended RCCG for embarking on the walk and urged others to join the struggle.

On his Twitter page, he tweeted: “I salute the @rccghq on the protest against insecurity staged nationwide today & tagged “Prayer Walk”

“I want to urge other churches, mosques, artisans, students, youths to join in the struggle to liberate our dear nation. Resistance is the key to liberation.

Dr Dípò Awójídé @OgbeniDipo on his Twitter page said: “RCCG should have partnered with Living Faith, Catholic Church, Anglican Church and other megachurches in Nigeria.
