Federal Poly Kaura graduates over 22,000 students in 24 years — Rector

The Rector of the Federal Polytechnic Kaura Namoda in Zamfara State, Dr Yahaya Muhammad Bande, has revealed that in the last 24 years, the institution has successfully graduated no fewer than 22,863 candidates, saying that the Federal Polytechnic Kaura is no longer a pushover among its sister institutions.

In his address during the 7th combined convocation and 40 years of establishment held on Saturday at the Kaura Namoda convocation ground, Dr Yahaya Bande said the institution has produced well-equipped graduates.

“The Federal Polytechnic Kaura Namoda has actually produced well-equipped graduates that have contributed to the 63 years of Nigeria’s survival.”

Engineer Bande disclosed that the Federal Polytechnic Kaura Namoda was established in June 1983 via Decree No. 33 of July 2, 1979, as amended in 1985.

“The institution began its normal academic activities in 1983 with the development of a takeoff grant, perimeter fencing, staff quarters, and a convocation arena, though with a demarcated site.”. He revealed.

According to him, the journey of the federal Polytechnic Kaura Namoda started in a primary school building donated by the people of Kaura Namoda under the leadership of His Royal Highness, the First Emir of Kaura Namoda, the late Alhaji Ahmad Muhammad.

“However, it is my pleasure to inform this August gathering that the institution is no longer a pushover among its sister institutions because it has earned the respect of the polytechnics in Nigeria and beyond the shores of Africa, especially in the areas of manpower development, staff and student welfare, as well as peaceful coexistence and a conducive learning atmosphere.”

He further explained that the journey of the Federal Polytechnic, Kaura Namoda, began forty years ago with a vision to empower individuals through quality education. ”

Today, we stand tall, having nurtured and trained countless minds that are contributing to the progress of our nation.”

“Today, we gather here not only to celebrate the academic achievements of our graduates but also to commemorate a significant milestone: the 7th Convocation and 40th Anniversary of the Federal Polytechnic, Kaura Namoda.”

He said the occasion was a testament to the resilience, growth, and enduring spirit of this reputable institution.

“For the time under review, the last 24 years, which was the last convocation held, until today, the Polytechnic has graduated successfully with a total of 22,863 candidates.”

In his remarks, Governor Dauda Lawal, who was represented by Deputy Governor Malam Mami Mummuni, said the present administration of Governor Dauda Lawal is committed to bringing back the lost glory of education in the state.

He said the government has recently declared a state of emergency on education in the state and constituted a visitation panel for institutions to assess them and take all necessary measures to restore the educational sector in the state.

Those present at the occasion were the Sultan of Sokoto, who was represented by the Emir of Zurmi, Dr Muhammad Suleiman Bello, the Emir of Kaura Namoda, Dr Sanusi Ahmad Asha, politicians in the area, management staff, other sister institutions, student unions, and the alumni president of the federal Polytechnic Kaura Namoda, Abdul Razak Bello, in the state.
