Fearne Cotton divorces Jesse Wood after tumour surgery

Popular TV presenter and Happy Place podcast host, Fearne Cotton has left her fans in disbelief by announcing her separation from husband Jesse Wood.

This announcement comes shortly after Fearne underwent surgery to remove two benign tumours from her jaw. The operation took place last week, and she has since been recuperating at home.

On Friday evening, Fearne shared the news of her split with Jesse through her Instagram Stories. She wrote, “It is with a heavy heart that I let you all know that Jesse and I are ending our marriage. Our priority has been, and will always be, our children. We please ask that you respect our family’s privacy at this time.”

Fearne and Jesse, who is the son of Rolling Stones guitarist Ronnie Wood, tied the knot in a charming ceremony surrounded by loved ones in 2014. The couple share two children, Rex and Honey, while Jesse has two older children, Arthur and Lola, from a previous relationship.

Earlier in the month, Fearne disclosed that she had discovered a benign tumour in her jaw. Speaking candidly in an Instagram video, she explained, “I’ve got a benign tumour just in my jaw here, below my ear, another little tiny one above it. I’m very grateful they’re benign, but they do need to come out because they’re on a nerve.”

She urged her followers to seek medical advice if they notice anything unusual, saying, “If you feel a lump or bump or feel like something is a bit off, always go get it checked. I’m so glad I did as the longer you leave these things, the more complicated things become.”

Fearne also revealed the support she had received from her close friend, Davina McCall, who had gone through a similar experience.

“It’s obviously so weird that only a couple of months ago Davina told me about her tumour, and then weeks later I was calling her having discovered mine. I’m not only lucky she’s a bloody good mate but also a beacon of light and positivity when it comes to this stuff,” she said.

After the surgery, Fearne shared an update, expressing gratitude for its success and the care she received. “Operation went really well. Recovering and resting. Thanks so much for all the kind messages,” she told her fans. Although she admitted to feeling “wiped out,” she reassured her followers that she was on the mend.

She posted a photo of herself in pyjamas, giving a thumbs-up, and mentioned, “Resting at home. Feel pretty wiped out but on the mend. Professor O’Flynn did the neatest job and was simply amazing at making me feel calm about the whole thing. Any good TV suggestions, get them in.”

Fearne and Jesse’s relationship began in 2011 during a girls’ trip to Ibiza, where the pair instantly connected and became inseparable. A year later, they announced they were expecting their first child, Rex, who was born in February 2013.

Jesse proposed soon after, and the couple married in July 2014. A year later, they welcomed their daughter, Honey.

Despite their strong bond, Fearne has been open about the challenges of marriage. On her Happy Place podcast, she said, “I am a very fiery person, and Jesse can also be quite fiery.
We’ve certainly argued in front of the kids. Most parents have at some point. It’s not regular, but we have definitely had a pop at each other in front of them — and you don’t feel good about it after.”

In 2019, Fearne admitted in an interview with the Daily Telegraph that marriage requires effort. Reflecting on an article she had written for Red Magazine, she explained, “Every marriage takes work. It doesn’t dilute our love or make our marriage any weaker; it actually makes it stronger because we’re willing to have those conversations.”

During the lockdown, the couple faced additional pressures, as Fearne once noted how the period tested their relationship. Like many families, they had to adjust to new routines, which sometimes led to heated arguments.

Nonetheless, Fearne has always been forthcoming about both the highs and lows of her personal life, stating, “I’m happy to share the good and bad bits of myself because, of course, I’m not living this perfect, fairytale life.”
