The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has waded into the alleged take-over of Tungan Maje community land by the army.
Indigenes of the community had staged a protest over what they described as constant intimidation, harassment and extortion by men and officers of the army who they said illegally claimed title of the community land without valid title document from constituted authority.
They alleged that the army disobeyed court orders issued against them from taking further action on the land.
Director in FCT permanent secretary’s office, Samuel Atang, however, confirmed that a constituted committee was already working on the issue quietly.
Speaking on behalf of the minister, he told leader of the protesters, Alhaji Jibrin Mamman, “we want to have heart-to-heart discussion to articulate the issue. The issue is being considered.”
Earlier, Mamman said that the area in dispute was known as Zuba 11, Gwagwalada Area Council and was designed and allocated to various individuals, companies and government institutions such as customary and area courts for the purpose of administration of justice within the community.
He also said that the disputed land accommodated Federal Road Safety Commission, Zuba office, Zuba police station and federal College of Education, Zuba.
