Unity Fountain
In its resolve to provide adequate and modern recreational facilities within Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA), on Tuesday, announced the closure of the Unity Fountain, Maitama for three months with a view to putting it in order.
A statement endorsed by the Chief Press Secretary (CPS) to the minister, Mr Anthony Ogunleye, and made available to newsmen in Abuja, said the FCT administration deemed it expedient to upgrade the facility due to the background and the symbolic nature of the area as a location symbolizing the oneness of the Nigerian people.

“As a result, the Unity Fountain will be closed for this upgrade for between 60-90 days to allow for construction work which will include the provision of a car park, landscaping and perimeter fencing.” The statement added.
The FCT administration, therefore, solicited the support and cooperation of members of the public in this regard with the assurance that it would be opened to the general public on completion of the upgrade.
