In a statement signed by its Chairman, Comrade Korede Matilukoro, a copy of which was made available to TribuneOnline in Abuja, the Joint Unions Action Committee (JUAC) called on staff to comply fully with the strike action.
The statement read in part: “the Joint Unions Action Committee, JUAC is in receipt of a circular from the national headquarters of the Trade Union Congress, TUC and the Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, calling for a nationwide strike with effect from the midnight of 26th September 2018. To further press home the demand on the review of the current minimum wage.

“In view of the above, the Joint Unions Action Committee, JUAC hereby call on all union leaders, unions and staff of the FCT Administration, to immediately commence mobilisation towards the strike as directed by the leadership of TUC and NLC.
“For the avoidance of doubt, all staff are expected to sit at home, as any staff caught contravening this directive will be sanctioned accordingly.
“To this end, the entire workforce of the FCT Administration is hereby charged to sit at home and wait for further instruction.
It would be recalled that the TUC and the NLC have instructed all affiliate unions to commence a nationwide strike to press home their demand for a new minimum wage.
