FCT Commandant of Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Olusola Odumosu
The Commandant, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Command, Olusola Odumosu, has stressed the need for effective collaboration and synergy among security agencies in achieving success against crime and criminality in the FCT.
Odumosu made the call when he received the Comptroller of Corrections, FCT Command, John Francis, who was on a familiarization visit to his office in Abuja.
Odumosu told his counterpart from the Nigerian Correctional Service that since he assumed office, he has been enjoying good working relationships with other services, hence would not hesitate to extend same to him.
“In view of the common goal the Corps shares with other security agencies, we are poised to synergize at all times to achieve this all-important goal.
“Provision of security is not something anyone could handle alone, security is all-encompassing and requires all hands on deck to actualize the set objective.
“Unhealthy rivalry is not necessary if we must achieve the mandate of securing lives and properties of the people, as well as government Critical National Assets,” he said.
The Commandant added that the Corps has been able to maximize its human capital which has paved way for recent arrests of vandals of critical infrastructure, bandits, illegal miners, oil thieves, fraudsters, child traffickers, and so on, across the FCT and its environs.
He disclosed that security agencies in the FCT are working hand in glove and this has culminated in increased intelligence sharing which has led to the successes being recorded by law enforcement agencies in recent times.
The spokesperson of NSCDC FCT, Mr Idoko Samuel in a statement quoted Odumosu as assuring the Comptroller of Corrections that the three gun trucks recently commissioned for the command by the Commandant General (CG), Dr. Ahmed Abubakar Audi, would be deployed to assist in surveillance patrol and for provision of security around the Kuje custodial facilities and other parts of the FCT.
He thanked the CG for boosting the operations of the FCT Command with the gun trucks and assured that the Command will not renege on its constitutional mandate of protecting Critical National Assets and infrastructure amongst others.
In his remarks, the Comptroller of Corrections Service, CC John Francis, commended the purposeful leadership and mentoring of the FCT Commandant, since his assumption of office.
He acknowledged the existing synergy and collaboration between the two agencies, solicited more support, and assured of his readiness to work with the Corps in his determination to succeed.
