Bello said this during the commissioning of 73 operational vehicles and ambulances by the FRSC for the six geopolitical zones of the country.
He noted that it was the duty of every citizen, corporate entity and agency of government to work collectively for the improvement of safetyon roads in the country.
The minister, who was represented by his Chief of Staff, Mohammed Bashir, stressed that the FCT administration had continued to improve mobility and road safety within the territory through vigorous expansion of road networks, prompt highway maintenance and provision of relevant standard traffic signs and symbols.
He, however, noted that government’s efforts in this direction had been sabotaged by road users who continued to exhibit poor attitude on the roads which resulted in the damage of road infrastructure.
He also frowned at the trend of driving against traffic, beating traffic red lights and defacing of road signs, while commending FRSC on the road patrol initiatives aimed at checking the rampant dangerous driving and violation of traffic regulations.
Corps Marshal and Chief Executive of FRSC, Dr Boboye Oyeyemi, in his remark, said the newly acquired vehicles and ambulances would enhance the operational strength of the Corps.
He added that the improved deployment of operational vehicles had helped to reduce road traffic crashes by 21 per cent while the response time to road accidents had also been reduced to 20 minutes.
