FCT gets new NSCDC Commandant, Odumosu

The Commandant General of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Dr Ahmed Abubakar Audi, has approved the redeployment of the service spokesperson, Commandant Olusola Odumosu, as the new Commandant for the FCT Command.

Audi announced this on Friday in Abuja and directed that the handover between the outgoing and incoming Commandants should be concluded by Tuesday, 15th August 2023.

In a statement issued by the new spokesperson of the Corps, Babawale Zaid Afolabi, it was explained that the move was aimed at revamping, restructuring, and repositioning the NSCDC FCT Command for more effective service delivery.

Commandant Odumosu will take over from Commandant Peter Maigari, who has been nominated for a strategic course at the National Security Institute for the next year.

Dr Audi praised Odumosu for his commitment and professionalism in his duty. He highlighted the virtues of hard work, dedication, and loyalty exhibited by Odumosu while working at the National Headquarters.

Audi noted that Odumosu’s tenure as Director of Public Relations witnessed innovations that strengthened the Corps’ image and increased its social acceptability nationwide.

He pointed out that Odumosu’s leadership led to strategic communication workshops and partnerships with local and international media.

The new FCT Commandant, Olusola Odumosu, thanked the CG for entrusting him with leadership for the FCT Command. He expressed his commitment to advancing the ideals and vision of the NSCDC in transforming and repositioning the Corps in the Federal Capital Territory.

Odumosu is a Fellow of the National Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) and the International Institute of Public Relations, London, UK.

The CG has also appointed Chief Superintendent of Corps (CSC) Babawale Zaid Afolabi as the new Director of Public Relations (DPR) for the Corps.

He charged the new spokesman to consolidate the legacies set by his predecessor in order to enhance the performance and transformation of the Public Relations Unit at the NSCDC National Headquarters and all formations nationwide.
