FCT CP seeks residents’ collaboration on security

Mustafa, who made the call at the inauguration of the Wuye ultra modern market police post in Abuja on Tuesday, said security should not be left to the police alone.

He was represented by the Assistant Commissioner of Police in charge of FCT metro, ACP Abiodun Alamutu.

The commissioner warned officers who would be posted to the market against taking credit from traders.

He said the police frowned at such conduct as it amounted to disciplinary issue.

“The police will not accept anything that will drag its name into the mud,“he said.

He urged members of the public to always report suspicious persons around them to the police.

“Any bad person amongst you should be exposed for the law to take its course,“he said.

In a remark, the Executive Director of the market, Mr Balogun Oluwasegun, said since the inauguration of the market, there had been challenges.

He commended the efforts of the FCT police command for ensuring that there was security in and around the complex.

The Divisional Police Officer of Wuye district, Salome Jimbes, said that the presence of the police was to ensure that law and order prevailed.

In her remarks, Mrs Felicia Sani, President, Market Women Association, urged the traders to work with the police to secure the market from activities of criminal elements.

She said that there was a need for the traders to support the police for their tireless efforts at ensuring adequate security.

Sani, who described the inauguration as historic, restated the association’s resolve to assist the police in securing the market.
