FCT APC urged to unite ahead area council elections

Senator Usman Jibril Wowo, Chairman of the Unity and Reconciliation Committee (URC) of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), has called on all aggrieved members of the party to put aside their differences and work towards a united front ahead of the upcoming area council elections in Abuja.

Speaking in Abuja, Senator Wowo emphasised the importance of building bridges rather than walls and encouraged members to take advantage of the party’s internal conflict resolution mechanism to address their grievances.

The senator’s call for reconciliation comes on the heels of the party’s poor performance in the last area council elections. He stressed that the reconciliation committee’s efforts are in line with the party’s constitution, which emphasizes the importance of promoting reconciliation and settling disputes among members.

Senator Wowo also highlighted the significance of the timing, coinciding with the Ramadan season and the Lent season, which he believes is an opportunity for Nigerians to demonstrate faith, obedience, and forgiveness.

“We must come together and talk about our differences, and forge a united headway towards a bigger APC in the future,” Senator Wowo said. “The area council elections are just around the corner, and it is imperative that we put our house in order.”

The senator’s appeal is seen as a crucial step towards healing the rifts within the party and presenting a united front ahead of the elections.
