FCES Oyo matriculates 1,310 students

Federal College of Education, Special, Oyo, on Thursday,   matriculated  1,310 new students  for the 2023/24 academic session of the institution.

The ceremony marked the 47th edition of its kind in the college.

While speaking, the Provost of the institution, Dr  Ademola Salami, congratulated the new students for scaling the hurdles and for being found suitable for admission into  the college.

He informed the fresh students  and  the college community that the National Commission  for Colleges of Education  (NCCE) – the supervising Agency  for all colleges of education in Nigeria – had  given its approval for re-accreditation of all the  academic programmes in the college. Dr  Salami  noted that the college is constantly enjoying the   federal government’s moral support to make the institution teaching and learning-friendly to ensure the college achieves its mandate.

Speaking further, the Provost, represented by his deputy, Dr Kunle  Adebiyi, noted that education without discipline is incomplete, stressing that students are expected to exhibit high sense of discipline while in the college to be found worthy both in learning and in character.

“You are therefore enjoined to shun all anti- social activities; cultism , examination misconduct and  the like  , all of which have great consequences on your studies and success in life. The college also encourages all students to dress according   to acceptable norms. In the aspect of security, the college will continue to work round the clock to ensure the security of lives and properties of members of the college community.

“However, you are expected to be  security conscious  throughout your stay in the college. You are also called upon to alert the officials of the college  wherever you see, or have information on anything that may constitute a threat to the security of the institution,” he charged.
