FCE Oyo gets new provost

Federal Government has approved the appointment of Dr Ademola Rauf Salami as the new Provost of the Federal College of Education Special, Oyo.

He succeeded Professor Kamoru Usman who completed his tenure this month,  having served the institution meritoriously for 8 years.

Dr Salami, a native of Saki, one of the renowned ancient cities in Oyo State, joined the service of the college in 2002 as lecturer III and rose to the position of Chief lecturer in  October 2017.  Until his new appointment as the new Provost of the college, Dr Salami had served the institution in different capacities at management level in the college; such as Head of  Department of Learning Disability, Director, National  Centre  Disabled, Director, ICT and Chairman, Colleges of Education Academic Staff Union (COEASU) college branch.

Dr Salami specialises in Special education learning disabilities and has several publications,  two textbooks 24 journals and twelve research works all to his credit. During his research and teaching, he attended many local, national and international conferences where he presented  papers related to the field of his specialization.

He is a member of the Nigeria Association of Special Education Teachers, Member, National Council For  Exceptional Children(NCEC) and many others. He has bagged many awards in his area of specialization and leadership.

Dr Salami is the 7th  Provost and the first alumnus of the college to be appointed as the provost of the institution since the college started in 1977. He is happily married and blessed with children. His appointment took effect from July 18, 2023.
