Ayodele Fayose
The document entitled: “2018 Revised Budget,” came as a fresh request from the governor and has been classed as the first of its kind since the commencement of the 2018 fiscal year in the state.
According to a document attached to the 89-page budget prepared by the Ministry of Budget, the approved estimates for 2018 stood at N98,611,545,040.66, while the revised estimates sent to the Assembly stood at N108,538,072,813.52.
The media aide if the Speaker of the Assembly, Mr Stephen Gbadamosi, explained while speaking on the document the House Committee on Appropriation had been sitting to consider the supplementary appropriation and that there was really nothing new about the bill.
Gbadamosi said the Assembly was still in recess and that it was only members of its Committee on Appropriation, headed by Mr Ayo Jeje, that were meeting to work on the document.
The documents, dated August 30, 2018, Gbadamosi claimed, had been with the Assembly before they went on recess in July.
However, with just about one month left for Fayose’s administration to wind down, the timing of the governor’s request has set tongues wagging.
The documents entitled: “2018 Revised Budget,” which the governor signed, was dated August 30, 2018, and was received at the office of the Clerk of the House of Assembly on Monday at about 3.40pm.
According to some workers in the Assembly, lawmakers would consider the bill after the relevant committees and pass it as soon as possible.
