Fayemi replies Fayose on plot to remove him, says ‘he’ll meet his comeuppance’

IMMEDIATE past governor of Ekiti State, Dr Kayode Fayemi, has said that he is “not prepared to respond” to allegations by his successor, Mr Ayodele Fayose, that he was plotting a judicial coup against him.

Fayemi, who currently serves as the Minister of Mines and Steel Development, said when he paid a condolence visit to the family of his late deputy, Mrs Funmi Olayinka, at the weekend that he was not prepared to respond to all the antics of  Ekiti State governor, Mr Ayodele Fayose.

Fayemi, who was accompanied on the visit to the home of the late Chief Festus Obafemi Obamuagun, by his former deputy and the newly-appointed Chairman of the National Board for Technical Education, Professor Modupe Adelabu, said he would rather not comment and that Fayose would “meet his comeuppance.”

According to Fayemi, he would rather concentrate “on very important matters than dignifying Fayose’s antics with a response.”

He said: “You know that I would never join issues with Governor Fayose. He is entitled to his opinion and he is free to entertain himself. So, let him continue to entertain himself. At the appropriate time, he would meet his comeuppance.

“I don’t belong in the mud, so he cannot drag me to the mud. Truth is always constant and I know posterity is there to judge.”

Speaking on the death of Chief Famuagun, father of his late deputy, Mrs Olayinka, Dr Fayemi noted that “Pa Famuagun lived a good life and would be missed for his wise counsel and candour.”

While thanking God for the life of the late patriarch of the Obamuagun family, he said that “he lived an exemplary life; we shall continue to promote the values that he represented.”

He however said the children of the deceased should be consoled by the good name their father left behind.

Governor Fayose had, last week, alleged that the Minister of Mines and Steel Development was courting the Judiciary to revisit the 2014 election, in which he defeated the minister.

According to him, it was the second time the move would be made and alleged the Fayemi was in cahoots with some justices of the Supreme Court in the plot to revisit the matter concluded about three years ago at the apex court.
