TRAGEDY struck in the early hours of Saturday, when a family of six were burnt to death at Bawo road, Hausawa quarters, in Tarauni Local Government Area of Kano State.
An eyewitness said the inferno killed one Isaiah Jonathan; his wife and three children including a new-born baby as well as the younger sister of his wife.
The source, however, disclosed that the fire started from the sitting room and prevented the deceased and his family members from escaping from the house.

Our source further hinted that neighbours were woken up when they heard the deceased shouting and calling for help.
He, however, disclosed that “when we heard some noise in the early hours, we thought robbers have visited us. But when we came out, we saw fire burning in some parts of the house and it became difficult to put out.”
The source added that “when we saw them trying to pull out the burglary proof, we tried to get a ladder to get to them but we could not.”
While confirming the incident the state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, said the police received a call in the early hours of Saturday.
He said that: “at about 0325hrs the control room called and informed a patrol team that there was a fire incident at Link 39, Bawo road, Hausawa quarters.“
He added that the call stated that all the family members of one Mr Jonathan, his wife, three children and their maid died in the fire outbreak.
He however disclosed that the fire was put out with the help of men from Kano fire service.
