Barrister exported his music to the United Kingdom in 1978 and returned with a success story, details of which he chronicled in his elpee entitled London Special.
The event is scheduled for September 29, at Townley Grammar School, Townley Road, Kent, at 4pm under the chairmanship of Nigeria’s High Commissioner to UK, Justice George Adesola Oguntade.

According to the chairman of the organising committee, Dr Dapo Williams, Barrister was an iconic musician, who created fuji music from different genres and set the pace for other musicians that embraced the band in his lifetime.
Williams said the role played by Barrister was a sacrifice in the face of other competing brands of music in Nigeria in the 70s and 80s, declaring that the event as the group’s contribution to his memory.
“We have, therefore, brought together distinguished personalities to celebrate this special being with us with a view to placing him in the right chapter he belongs in the history of Nigerian music,” he said.
Others expected at the occasion include one of Barrister’s friend, Otunba Adisa Osiefa; and Chief (Mrs) Bolupe Amina Aramide, while the publisher of Alaroye group of newspapers, Alagba Musa Alao Adedayo will deliver lecture.
Other members of the organising committee are, Asiwaju Ademola Adesingbin and Aolat Tomisin Soule also said that the event would attract some fuji musicians, including Abass Akande popularly known as Obesere.
President Ayinde Barrister Legacy Group, Barrister AbdulGaniy Bello applauded the organiser, describing the event as “a befitting occasion to the man who created a new music and grew it to an internationally accepted brand.”
