Words could not describe how elated gospel music icon, Pastor Joseph Adelakun, popularly known as Baba Ayewa, was when he received a kind gesture from a group of his fans .
The veteran musician-turned-cleric was given a car gift by top fans and committee of friends who deemed it fit to appreciate the musician by adding to his fleet of cars.
The Amona crooner was presented with a white Mercedes-Benz GL450 believed to be worth around 10 million naira as a special birthday gift to mark his 71st birthday last Thursday by the committee.
The dedication was anchored by Ayewa’s musical colleague, Evangelist Ebenezer Obey-Fabiyi amid cheers at Reels Plaza, Lagos State.
Speaking during the presentation, Obey noted that he was not surprised by the gesture as it was a reward for Ayewa’s personality and dedication to the work of God.
“Pastor Ayewa is a man with a clean heart and one who is always interested in the progress of everyone, even the younger generation. He is humanity personified and a man that has the fear of God. We have been friends for many years and I have never regretted the relationship. I am happy to be part of this history. It is a well-deserved gesture and I pray that we will see greater things in sound health. I congratulate and rejoice with him on his 71st birthday.
“I must also thank Mrs Olafunke Clara Adelakun; she is a good mother and a good wife, who has always been supporting the ministry and career of her husband. I appreciate Pastors Samson Bamigbayan; Rotimi Poopola and Tunde Kajogbola as well as other members of the committee for the good work. I pray that God will continue to support them in all their endeavours,” he added.
In her remarks, the wife of the celebrant, Olufunke, appreciated the small gathering, just as he expressed her gratitude to the brains behind the gift and everyone that celebrated with her husband.
