Former spokesperson of former President Goodluck Jonathan’s campaign organisation, Chief Femi Fani-Kayode, was on Monday released from Kuje Prisons custody, after perfecting all his bail conditions.
Fani-Kayode, who was flanked by his wife on the premises of the Federal High Court, Abuja, where he perfected his bail conditions, told journalists that he gave thanks to God and Nigerians who were with him during the travails.
Fani- Kayode, who spent about 24 days in the custody of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) as well as the Kuje prisons, said he will focus on his health challenge but however, did not disclose the nature of his ailment.
Answering questions on his experience in the EFCC custody, Fani-Kayode said, as one of the consistent customers of the EFCC, the experience was no longer new to him.
“No weapon fashion against me shall prosper. My enemies will not succeed, for those who are with me are more than those who are against me. My God would not allow them to succeed,” he said.
It will be recalled that, Justice John Tsoho of the Federal High Court sitting in Abuja, had, last week, granted bail to the former aviation minister and director of Media and Publicity in the Campaign Organisation of former President Goodluck Jonathan, Femi Fani-Kayode in the sum of N50 million.
Fani-Kayode, who was arraigned by the EFCC on a five-count charge bordering on money laundering, to the tune of N26 million, pleaded not guilty to all the five-count charges.
The trial judge, Justice Tsoho, who admitted him to bail after his counsel, Ifedayo Adedipe, argued his bail, ordered that, the accused be remanded in Kuje Prison, pending the perfection of his bail condition.
The court also held that, Fani-Kayode should produce one surety in like sum and that the surety, who must have properties in Abuja, is expected to produce the original documents of the property, for citing and inspection before the Deputy Registrar, Litigation of the court.
The court also held that the defendant and the surety should produce two recent passport photographs, while Fani-Kayode is expected to submit any travelling document with him and would only get same from the court if the need arises.
Meanwhile, earlier on Monday, the trial of Fani-Kayode, was stalled before a Federal High Court in Lagos, due to his remand at the Kuje prisons, Abuja.
Fani-Kayode, is facing money laundering charges alongside a former Minister of Finance, Nenandi Usman and Danjuma Yusuf.
At the resumed hearing of the case, Fani-Kayode was absent in court.
