The family of the late Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN, CON, expressed profound sorrow as they confirmed the peaceful passing of the revered patriarch.
The Governor, esteemed as a courageous, compassionate, and dedicated leader, peacefully departed in his sleep while undergoing medical treatment for an enduring struggle with prostate cancer at a hospital in Germany.
“Our hearts are heavy with grief as we bid farewell to a beloved father, grandfather, and an exceptional leader,” remarked Oluwarotimi Akeredolu Jnr, speaking on behalf of the family. “Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu has left an indelible mark on our lives and the legacy of our state.”
As the family navigates the immense loss, they seek solace in the belief that Governor Akeredolu continues his journey guided by benevolent forces, transitioning to an eternal realm following his impactful sojourn on Earth.
“In this difficult time, we extend our heartfelt gratitude to everyone offering unwavering support and solidarity,” continued Akeredolu Jnr. “We kindly ask for your prayers and understanding, requesting privacy as we mourn.”

Akeredolu, served as a beacon of strength and progress in Ondo State, renowned for his unwavering dedication to the betterment of the state and its people. His passing leaves a significant void in the hearts of many who were touched by his leadership and compassion, the family stated.
The family, in collaboration with the State Government, will communicate details about the funeral arrangements in due course, offering an opportunity for the community to pay their respects and honour the life and achievements of Governor Akeredolu, the family stated.
