Members of the family of one Prince Ogbe of Ugbuwangue in Warri South Local Government Area of Delta State has dragged a federal lawmaker, Honourable Daniel Renieyeju, to a Warri High Court over alleged trespass on their land.
The applicants, Pa Peter Eburajolor, Major-General Missan Ogbe Femi (retd) and two others, are contending that the defendant, who represents Warri Federal Constituency in the National Assembly, illegally and forcefully occupied their land.
In the statement of claim filed by their counsel, Mr J.O Kpedi, the applicants further averred that Prince Ogbe found a large portion of land in Ugbuwangue through deforestation of a large expanse of land which include the land now in dispute.
Consequently, the claimant/applicants are demanding N50 million as general damages for the alleged trespass on their land.
They also alleged that sometime in March 2016, the defendant, without the consent and authority of the claimants, accessed the piece of land and started moulding blocks.
The applicants sought a declaration that they are entitled to a statutory right of occupancy in and over the piece of the land.
Besides, the applicants are seeking an order of perpetual injunction restraining the defendant, his agents, servants or whosoever from further trespassing on the piece of land.
