Fadugba cautions FG on aviation agreements

The Federal Government and its aviation authorities have been asked to exercise more restraints before rushing to sign any aviation related contracts to prevent wrong impressions.

Speaking at a two-day event organised by the AfBAA in conjunction with Evergreen Apple of Nigeria (EAN) in Lagos recently, Nick Fadugba, the President and Chief Executive Officer of African Aviation Services Limited (AAS), made the appeal while citing various contracts Nigeria entered into with various partners within the country’s aviation sector which subsequently boomeranged due to untidy arrangements put on ground by those who represented Nigeria when the conditions for the deals were been fine tuned.

Still speaking on the need for Nigeria to avoid signing bad deals, Fadugba said “We need to scrutinise what we do. We need to pay more attention to conditions attached to deals carefully before we sign such deals.”

Fadugba gave the advice based on his global experience which spanned through provision of consultancy and advisory services to African and international organisations engaged in commercial, business and military aviation in Africa.

He added that the Nigerian government needed to create policies that will stimulate the growth of business aviation.

He said the NCAA, should create a different  layer of regulation for business aviation, even as he observed that the General Aviation Directorate of the NCAA was under resourced to enable it appreciate how that arm of aviation could revolutionise the industry.
