Extend border closure to foreign herdsmen, Ortom tells Buhari

Following persistent attacks on communities in Benue State, Governor Samuel Ortom, has appealed to the President Muhammadu Buhari-led Federal Government to extend the border closure to foreign herdsmen.

Ortom made the appeal on Monday when he visited a female victim of herdsmen attacks whose limb was amputated while working on her farm in Guma local council of the state.

Ortom said the herdsmen who allegedly have unfitted access into Nigerian territories attack communities including those in Benue with arms they bear.

He also reiterated the need for the government to ban all forms of open grazing in the country.

While noting that Nigerians cannot afford to live in fear in their own country, he added that ranches should be established for coordination and security profiling of all those keeping herds of animals.
