The H1 2023 export volume represents an increase of 110.8 percent over the 138,246.5 metric tonnes handled in the first half of 2022.

Customs Area Controller of the command, Adekunle Oloyede, in a statement made available to newsmen recently, put the free on board (FOB) value of the exports at N182.33 billion, which he said is 65 percent higher than the FOB value of N110.45 billion for the volume handled in the corresponding period of 2022.

He listed the export commodities handled at the command as cocoa butter, cocoa beans, cashew nut, sesame seeds, rubber, empty bottles and copper ingots.

Oloyede also said that the command collected N260.26 billion as revenue between January and June 2023.

The amount is about five percent lower than the N274.32 billion collected in the corresponding period of 2022.

He said that the command, working with other government agencies at the port, intercepted 1,442 packets of a narcotics substance named Colorado indica, weighing 519.45kg and with a street value of N721 million.
