  • One key cultural feature in Pakistan is Punjabi culture, and it is to be noted that 56 per cent of the population is located in the Punjab Province. This culture is the oldest in the country, and its people are known for their lovely poetry, music, dance, festivals, and exhibitions. The culture also has deep roots in Sufism, and followers of it spread the name of Islam through the fairs that they hold about Sufi saints. They also celebrate many cultural and religious festivals, such as Eid-Milad-Un-Nabi, Basant Festival, Teej Festival, Baisakhi Festival, etc. Punjabis are also known for their love of various sports. Not only do they participate in key sports such as hockey, cricket, football, and horse racing, but also in lesser-known sports such as ludo, pitho-garam,  Kathy, Gilli-Danda, Baraf-Panni, etc.
  • Yet another cultural aspect of this country is the Sindhi culture. The origins of the Sindhi language can be traced to 2400 years ago. It has influences of Sanskrit and a little bit of Arabic and can be seen spoken in many dialects, such as Dhatki, Brohi, Kutchi, etc. The community is largely involved in agriculture, which brings them significant income. The most notable aspect of the dress of this community is Ajrak, which is a hand-block print that brings out vivid patterns and is largely used in making shawls. The typical food eaten is wheat chapatis, made in different ways to the accompaniment of dry or wet gravy. Typical sports that people in this community indulge in are horse and cattle racing, Kabaddi, Malakhra, etc. The religious activities are dominated by the preaching of many Sufi saints, and their community at large is peaceful and involved in many cultural activities.
  • Pakhtuns are an ancient community with origins that can be traced to ancient Arabs, Jews, and Aryans. One of its most notable features is its poetry, wherein numerous poetic works have come out, some of which are quite popular. Key poets include Khushal Khan, Rahman Baba, etc. When it comes to food, they are known for dishes such as kabala paleo, tikka, long naans, chapli kebab, etc. During festivals, people take to dancing, and some key dance forms practiced by them are Masud, Khattak, Attn, etc. The traditional dress of this community is full of handcrafted elements such as embroidery and mirror work. Partoog-Korth is worn by the men along with a traditional cap, while the women wear long dresses and sew some material to cover their hair.
  • There are so many languages spoken in the country, which shows the different ethnic groups that live in it. In many homes, two languages are spoken, such as Urdu and Sindhi, Punjabi, and Urdu. Within each community, families are interlinked and interdependent. When it comes to having food, huge families sit down together and have a huge meal. Most people wear the Salwar Kameez, although in today’s modern times, the younger generation has taken to wearing jeans and T-shirts a lot more. Now, a lot of women are getting into key jobs across the country where they were formerly confined only to doing household chores.
