Ex-minister, Prof Hagher receives royal blessing from Tor Tiv for his presidential race

A former minister, Professor Iyorwuese Hagher on Saturday sought blessing from his monarch, the Tor Tiv, Professor James Ayatse to contest the 2019 Presidential election.

Hagher, one time Nigeria Ambassador to Canada and pro Chancellor, Afe Babalola University at the weekend along with his entourage stormed the temporary palace of Tor Tiv seeking royal blessing in its political voyage.

According to Hagher, “before I take any step in my aspiration to the highest office in the country, I feel it is imperative for me to meet my royal father, the Tor Tiv for a royal blessing.”

Hagher who said he is going on the platform of Social Democratic Party, SDP, said that the poor state of the nation propelled him to seek for the nation most exalted office.

The presidential hopeful said he will not be a Tiv president but president of Nigeria where equality and fairness will be his watchword.

“As an academic, I will place more emphasis on functional education of Nigeria, improved the health sector, focus on infrastructural development and turn the nation to food basket globally.”

“I will lead a country that Nations of the world will respect us, it is unfortunate that Nigerian youths are made slaves in other countries, many have died.

“Many nations look up to Nigeria but if we fail as a nation to get it right, Africa too has failed but there are some countries waiting to see Nigeria.

The Tor Tiv, HRM, Professor Ayatse eulogized the sterling qualities of Hagher who he said had in the past done the Tiv nation proud.

The monarch who poured blessing on his subject regretted that despite the price people of the middle belt, Tiv in particular, paid in the past to unite the country, the Tivs have not been given their rightful position in the nation.
