MUSLIMS have been enjoined to imbibe the virtues of honesty, humility, sacrifice and total submission to the will of Allah in accordance to the spirit of Eid-el Kabir celebration.
A former chairman of Oluyole Local Government Area of Oyo State, Honourable Abideen Salami, made the call while speaking after the Eid el Kabir prayer held at Olomi-Olunde prayer ground in Ibadan.
According to him, “it is important to keep promises made either to God or man. If Prophet Ibrahim had not made a promise and fulfilled same, we would not be having Eid-el-Kabir celebration today.”
He urged the political class to learn lessons from the celebration. “Our leaders should keep their electoral promises and rule with the fear of Allah. The followers too are enjoined to cooperate with their leaders to enable them fulfil their promises.”
Honourable Salami also felicitated with the Chief Imam of Ibadanland, Alhaji Abdul-Ganiy Agbotomokekere; the Aare Musulumi of Yorubaland, Alhaji Dawud Akinola and the entire Muslim ummah for witnessing this year’s celebration.
Earlier in his sermon, the Chief Imam of Olomi community central mosque, Alhaji Mudashiru Sulaimon, enjoined Muslims to embrace the fear of Allah in all their undertakings.
He equally admonished them to imbibe the virtues of tolerance, patience and obedience to the commands of Allah.
