Ex-Ajimobi’s aide pledges support for Olubadan against insecurity, drug abuse in Ibadan

The newly installed Mogaji of Ile Lato Compound in the Oke Labo area of Ibadan South-East local government Area of Oyo State, Professor Abiodun Gbolagade, has made known his plan to partner with the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Mohood Olalekan Balogun, in tackling illicit drug usage among youths as well as insecurity in Ibadanland.

Gbolagade, a former Special Adviser on Housing to the late Oyo state governor, Senator Abiola Ajimobi, made the pledge while speaking with journalists shortly after he paid a thank-you visit to the Olubadan at his Alarere palace in Ibadan.

Gbolagade, who spoke against the backdrop of recent complaints brought before the traditional ruler concerning the state of insecurity and illicit drug use among the youths in Ibadanland, said It is imperative to collaborate with law enforcement agencies in clamping down on drug peddlers in identified communities.

“We need to first engage the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) on ways to address issues of drug abuse, particularly among the youths in Ibadan.

“It is also important to support the Olubadan in tackling insecurity issues in Ibadanland so that he can also have peace of mind knowing that he has able lieutenants who are capable of being part and parcel of his rulership.

“The Olubadan cannot do it alone without his lieutenants, and now that he has given the opportunity to those who know how to operate within that tentacle, we must support him both in addressing drug-related issues as well as insecurity in Ibadanland.”

He said the people of his domain should expect a new edifice that can accommodate the entire family members of Lato compound, adding that he has been able to renovate two buildings apart from the one he had earlier constructed.

Gbolagade also promised to provide potable water to the community as well as scholarship awards not only for his family members but to members of the Oke Labo community at large so that they could benefit maximally from his good gestures.
