Every part of Lagos will experience infrastructural devt, Sanwo-Olu assures

Lagos State Governor, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu, on Thursday, inaugurated five networks of roads at the Government Reservation Area (GRA), Ikeja, assuring residents that no part of the state would be neglected in terms of infrastructural development.

The roads commissioned are Oba Dosumu Street, Oduduwa Way, Sobo Arobiodun Street, Oduduwa Crescent, and Sasegbon Street.

The commissioning, which was attended by former Governor of Ekiti State, Dr Ayodele Fayose; the Chairman of Air Peace Limited, Dr Allen Onyema; and former National Legal Adviser of APC, Dr Muiz Banire; among other dignitaries.

Speaking at the commissioning, Governor Sanwo-Olu, who was highly elated, stated that leadership was a burden that needed to be guarded jealously in the interest of the people.

The governor, while assuring that no part of the state would be neglected, said he was poised to touch every nook and cranny of the state to improve developmental strides, with more projects coming on the way.

The Special Adviser (SA) to the Governor on Infrastructure, Engr. Olufemi Daramola, said that the network of roads commissioned would further emphasise the state government’s vision of transforming critical road networks and enhancing the living standard of citizens and residents of the state.

Daramola observed that Ikeja GRA had long held a prestigious position in Lagos, and said that the commissioned roads were part of the urban regeneration initiative.

“Today, Ikeja GRA is home to a diverse range of commercial enterprises, from entertainment outlets and restaurants to financial institutions and boutique hotels.

“However, this remarkable growth in commercial activities has also brought with it several environmental and infrastructural challenges. The most pressing of these has been perennial flooding, which has impacted properties and significantly degraded the road network.

“In response to these challenges, the Lagos State Government under the leadership of Mr Governor and Mr Deputy Governor developed the Urban Regeneration Intervention Policy aimed at rehabilitating and upgrading key roads in the state.

“This project exemplifies the government’s proactive approach to revitalising critical infrastructure and ensuring that Ikeja GRA remains a thriving, sustainable area for both residents and businesses,” Dr Daramola stated.

Speaking at the event, the Chairman of Air Peace Limited, Dr Onyema, commended Governor Sanwo-Olu for not only transforming Ikeja but also the state in general, just as he equally commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for being known to always pick a round peg in a round hole.

According to him, the president has done the same thing with Governor Sanwo-Olu as he did with those before him to pilot the state of affairs in Lagos State, affirming that Tinubu was good at grooming leaders.

“You have transformed the GRA, Ikeja; you have transformed Lagos. I am very proud of you. Please, don’t leave politics; stay in politics. We need people like you to transform Nigeria; we need you at the centre,” he said.

Also speaking, the Oba Onigbongbo, Oba Olusegun Ajasa, expressed great appreciation to Governor Sanwo-Olu for a job well done in Ikeja GRA, saying that should the opportunity have arisen to elect him for a third term in office, nothing would have stopped the residents from doing so to show appreciation.

“We are not going to forget you; thank you, and God bless you,” the monarch said.
