Event security is a big deal —Odua Boi

Published by

OB security is one of the most sought after entertainment security outfits in Nigeria. His bouncers service most clubs and events around Nigeria. In a recent interview with ROTIMI IGE, he speaks about the need for event security, his passion for beards, among other issues.

Background

My name is prince Temilade Kolawole Olufemi Adewuyi, born into a royal family. I hail from Ile-Ife, Osun State, Nigeria. I studied geology and mining at the University of Maiduguri and spent most part of my life in Maiduguri before moving in 2010.

How and why did you begin your security outfit?

When I settled in Ibadan, I got into event planning, consultation, club management, real estate but I had always wanted to go into security. During the course of my club managements, I got to know a few security guys that would always come to me to call them whenever I have slots for security while planning an event which I did a few times. On my birthday, precisely 5th April 2016, I got a major event security job that needed me to deploy over 15 operatives and I did, and the events came out a success. It was after that day I decided to make everything official by registering the company name known as OB events and security.

We started by supporting brands, events, companies etc so as to build a solid foundation and to gain recognition. We were accepted by the people because of our level of professionalism, working strategies, and the way we satisfy our clients and thankfully we are still accepted till date.

How do you source your clients?

Because of our level of professionalism and our ability to satisfy our clients, we always get referrals by our clients and we live in a world where we can acess the internet and even the world with our mobile phones. Social media has also been of great help in getting us clients as we always post pictures and videos of our jobs on instagram. we do sponsored adverts on social media. I visit organisations with proposals and also drop my complimentary cards on tables whenever I have an event. That has also helped too.

Challenges faced in the job…

Every profession has its on challenges and I’ll say some of the challenges we face sometimes are the clients not completing their payments. Aside that,we are able to handle any situation we find ourselves in because we are well trained for that.

You are highly sought after in the south west by event organisers, clubs etc..what has been your staying power that has made you stay ahead in the game?

God’s grace, constituency, effectiveness, professionalism, good team work, good leadership skills and positive impacts. Event security is very essential and should be considered first when planning any event no matter how small. Safety first is our key watch word and this is why we have become a house hold name.

You recently launched a beard growth accessories outfit, why?

In recent times, I noticed a lot of guys have joined the trend of growing and grooming beards and there are guys that are interested in growing their beards so as to enhance their looks or other reasons best known to them and because I get a lot of questions about how I’ve been able to grow my beards, I decided to come up with an organic recipe that is very effective in growing and grooming beards and this works for those that already have beards or those that want to have beards It is also effective for hair growth. And I also thought of it as an avenue to provide a means of extra income for the youths as we plan on having distributors nationwide.

Does having a beard like yours make you more attractive to women and why?

I guess it does because growing beards give you a stern, bold, authoritative and confident look and I think some ladies find that attractive.

What other projects are you into?

Real estate (sales), event planning, event consultancy, promotions and branding, artiste management
