In an address to the French parliament, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky warned that Europe is now a continent at war, with Russia’s aggression extending beyond Ukraine’s borders.
“We live in a time when Europe is no longer a continent of peace, unfortunately,”
Zelensky stated on Friday. He described the devastation wrought by Russian bombings, noting,
“Again, Europe’s cities are being destroyed and villages are burned.” He also highlighted the abduction of Ukrainian children from occupied territories.
Zelensky cautioned that while the current conflict targets Ukraine, other countries could soon face similar threats. “This is against Ukraine now.
But this can be aimed at other countries tomorrow, and we already clearly see the direction of the aggression towards the Baltic countries, Poland, and the Balkans,” he explained.
He further emphasized that the Russian regime’s ambitions extend beyond Europe, citing Russian military actions in Syria and increased activity in the Sahel region of Africa. “The Russian regime does not see any limits and even Europe is no longer enough,” Zelensky said.
Zelensky accused Russian President Vladimir Putin of attempting to destabilize nations through food and energy insecurity and criticized the global community for being too afraid to respond forcefully to Putin’s actions.
