Ethiopian Airlines has won the Africa’s Leading Airline – Economy Class 2016 at the 23rd annual World Travel Awards (WTA) held in Maldives.
This year’s award marks the fourth consecutive year the airline has won the prestigious award.
The airline defeated nine other African airlines nominated for award to be number 1 Africa’s Leading Airline-Economy Class 2016.
The African airlines nominated for the award are: Air Namibia, EgyptAir, Kenya Airways, LAM – Mozambique Airlines and Mango.
Others are: Precision Air, Royal Air Maroc, South African Airways and Tunis Air.
Airlines that had won the award in the past are: South African Airways 2012 and Kenya Airways in 2011.
World Travel Awards serves to acknowledge, reward and celebrate excellence across all sectors of the global travel and tourism industry.
The WTA are considered the Oscars of the travel industry and hundreds of thousands of WTA voters, both from within the hospitality industry and among the public at large, cast more than 1.2 million votes during the Grand Tour 2016.
