Eschew negative vices, Bauchi chairman charges Christian youths

Christian youths in Bauchi State have been urged to eschew vices that could bring disrepute to the holy name of the Church, as established by Jesus Christ.

Instead, they were encouraged to embrace the virtues of holiness, honesty, and faithfulness and to exhibit Christ-like character that would distinguish them as responsible citizens.

This call was made by the Chairman of the Bauchi State chapter of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Rev. Dr. Abraham Damina Dimeus, while speaking at the maiden Bible quiz competition organised by the United Christian Youth Progressive Forum (UCYPF).

Rev. Dr. Dimeus also urged the youths to unite and work together, regardless of barriers, to serve as agents of light in society.

The CAN Chairman expressed his gratitude to the organisers, UCYPF, stating that this event marks the beginning of a new tradition, which will be held annually. He promised the full support of CAN to ensure future editions are even better.

The programme, aimed at uniting Christian youths and instilling good morals among them, was the first of its kind for the development and growth of the church. Three of the six CAN blocks—PFN, CCN, and OAIC—participated in the competition, which also served as a bridge-building exercise among the youths.

In the end, OAIC emerged victorious, securing the 1st position, followed by CCN in 2nd place, and PFN in 3rd.

The President of UCYPF, Edward Joniga, called on his fellow youths to be ready to sacrifice all they have in service to God Almighty.

Goodwill messages were delivered by invited guests, including the Executive Secretary of the Christian Pilgrims Board and others. Gifts were later presented to all participants, while special prayers were offered to all Christian youths.
