Ericmany Entertainment has punctured the joy of Nigeria’s pop star, Runtown as it insisted that the singer has not won the lingering contract breach between him and his management.
For more than a year, Ericmany and Runtown had been embroiled in a legal tussle over what the label described as a breach of contract on the part of the singer and his manager and was said to have got a court injunction restricting the singer from performing or releasing songs.

Days back, Runtown shared a story on his Instagram page claiming that he had won an appeal against the restraining order placed on him from performing or releasing new songs.
According to the Soungod crooner, a Federal High court in Abuja on January 23 passed a jugdement in his favour his embattled record label, Eric Many from interfering in his affairs.
In the judgement passed by Justice O.A Musa, it was ordered that the restraining order placed on Runtown from performing be immediately suspended while Eric Many was also restrained from enforcing the suspended orders of the court.
While congratulatory messages were still flooding Runtown’s page, Ericmany released a counter statement warning Runtown not to celebrate his victory yet as the case was still ongoing in court.
According to an official statement signed by Johnson Adumike, General Secretary Eric Many Entertainment, Runtown lied about winning the case, which he claimed is still ongoing in court.
The statement read: “On December 4, 2018, the Court ruled that Runtown’s lawyer can appear. But the Court dismissed Runtown’s application challenging its jurisdiction. It held that a breach of the contract is not for arbitration. The Court also held that Runtown should maintain the status quo. This means that Runtown should stop operations until the case is over.”
“It has come to the knowledge of Ericmany Limited that our artiste, Douglas Jack Agu, alias ‘Runtown’, has taken to the social media, especially twitter and Instagram, celebrating a supposed ‘victory’ in our case in Court. Runtown is telling lies. Runtown did not win the case. He has not even filed a defence. His lawyers only challenged the jurisdiction of the Court, claiming that the case is supposed to go for arbitration. Ericmany challenged the right of Runtown’s lawyer to appear in the case, since the same lawyer prepared the Recording Contract which Runtown is breaching.”
“Runtown cannot lawfully do anything contrary to the Contract until he wins the appeal. He has never obeyed any Court order. We hope that now that he has run to the Court of Appeal he will respect the Court of Appeal. We therefore warn the general public not to buy his lies of ‘victory’. The High Court only suspended trial to await Runtown’s appeal. No law abiding person or corporate body should have anything to do with Runtown until the court cases are over. Court proceedings must be respected by all.”
R tried to reach out to Runtown’s manager on phone on Friday but all efforts proved abortive as no member of his team was willing to comment on the matter.
