Enugu UDP expels its chairman, six others over alleged anti-party activities

CRISIS in Enugu State Chapter of the United Democratic Party (UDP) has taken a new dimension as the leadership of the party
has said that the state Chairman of the party, Prince Jideofor Ngene, his deputy Sunday Aroh and five others have been expelled from the party for alleged anti-party activities.

Addressing a press conference in Enugu yesterday, the Chairman of the State UDP’s Disciplinary Committee, Honourable Sam Ajibo, said the affected top members of the party also engaged in character assassination of their political leader, Pastor Donatus Ozoemena, the party’s gubernatorial candidate in the just concluded general elections.

Honourable Ajibo who was accompanied by other nine members of the state executive of the party, denied a section of media reports that the party’s gubernatorial candidate was on suspension, describing it as false and malicious.

His words: “Who suspended him? A non existing disciplinary committee as published in the newspaper? Based on this fictitious
publication, we the entire state executive members of UDP Enugu State chapter hereby disclaim and refute the said publication as it is false and imaginary of fiction.”

“Those persons behind the publication are mischief makers who were long investigated and expelled from the party for series of anti-party activities, gross insubordination and financial impropriety.”

“We urge the general public to disregard the publication and accord no relevance to the said group who are political thugs seeking attention.”

“We reiterate our confidence on our leader, who finances the party and governorship candidate, Pastor Donatus Ozoemena. His loyalty and contributions to UDP is unequaled.

“It is worthy to note that the leaders of the renegade group, Prince Jideofor Ngene, Engr. Sunday Aroh and Mr Richie Onos Obie were all expelled from the party on the 23rd of March 2019 by the disciplinary committee set up by the party.”

Meanwhile, the gubernatorial candidate of the party in 2019 elections, Pastor Ozoemena, has congratulated Governor Ifeanyi
Ugwuanyi of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for his victory in the gubernatorial poll, saying he should continue with his inclusive governance for the interest of the people.

He noted that Governor Ugwuanyi is an honest and broad-minded political leader who had been able to bring all interest groups together for peace to reign in the state.
