POLICE detectives in Enugu have arrested nine youths for alleged armed robbery and cult activities.
It was gathered that three of the suspects were picked by law enforcement agents on Monday along Enugu/Port Harcourt Expressway while others were napped earlier at various hideouts in Enugu.
Confirming the story, the State Police Public Relations Officer, Ebere Amarizu, said the names of the three suspects who had been terrorizing members of the public particularly road users of Enugu /Portharcourt Expressway of Akagbeugwu axis of the state were given as Emeka Chidogu, Emmanuel Okoh and Ifeanyi Nwaukwu all from Enugu State.
Amarizu disclosed that “Items recovered from the suspects included one Pump action Automatic machine gun and one beret pistol with live ammunition.
According to him, “The names of the other six suspects who had been terrorizing Emene axis of Enugu were Nwali Emmanuel, Nze Sampson, Ezeonyema from Imo State, Chukwu Joseph from Ebonyi State, Nweke Jeremiah also from Ebonyi State, and Etim Bassey from Cross River State”
“The suspects are already helping the operatives of the Anti cult Unit of the state police command in their investigations just as the command is advising members of the public to be law abiding and avoid act capable of bringing them in conflict with the law. Members of the public should shun cultism and its related activities as anyone caught will be made to face the music in line with the specification of the law”, the Police Spokesman added
