Ekweremadu
Senator Ekweremadu defeated Chief OAU Onyema, Oscar Egwuonwu, Uche Onyekwelu, and Isaac Uka to win at the poll held at Awgu, headquarters of Awgu Local Government Area of the State.
Ekweremadu won with 690 votes while Uka had 84 votes, Onyema scored 61 votes Onyekwelu had 22 votes. There were 12 invalid votes.
Reports from Nsukka had it that Senator Chukwuka Utazi clinched the Enugu-North Senatorial Zone ticket unopposed as he was the sole candidate for the party for the 2019 senatorial election. There were 1,065 yes votes.
For the Enugu-East Senatorial District, the election ended inconclusive following disagreement by the aspirants over the composition of the electoral officials. The contestants were the incumbent, Senator Gil Nnaji, former Governor of Enugu State, Dr Chimaroke Nnamani, Professor Agu Gab Agu, and Prince Lawrence Eze. Ex-governor Nnamani was not physically present for the election.
It was learnt that senator Nnaji protested the process of the election as he kicked against Honourable Chinedu Onu as the Returning Officer for the election, alleging that he (Onu) is a close associate of Senator Nnamani.
The Chairman and Secretary of the Senatorial Panel in the state were Gabriel Ogboko and Ndoma Egba.
